CBI Scotland yesterday responded to latest lockdown review and Finance Secretary statement.

Tracy Black, CBI Scotland Director, yesterday said:

“Further continuation of lockdown restrictions comes as little surprise with transmission rates remaining high. While the First Minister’s indication of the likely sequencing for lifting restrictions is helpful, businesses will hope next week’s Strategic Framework brings much needed clarity and transparency about the weeks and months ahead. This should be driven by data and developed in dialogue with business.

“The extension of business rates reliefs for the retail, leisure, hospitality and aviation sectors – called for by businesses ahead of the Scottish Budget – will prove a major boost to under-pressure firms.

“Gradually reopening schools from Monday is also welcome step forward on our journey to a new normal. From our discussions with firms across Scotland, we know reopening schools will provide working parents with much needed breathing space. Every effort should now be made to help children catch up on their studies.”
