CBI recently (15 July 2021) responded to news of more than 500,000 people contacted by Test and Trace.

CBI President Lord Karan Bilimoria, recently said:

“It’s a genuine shock that more than half a million people in the UK were asked to self-isolate in just the last week alone.

“Infection rates may be increasing rapidly but it’s clear the test and trace system needs an overhaul, with over 2/3rds of the adult population now fully jabbed.

“As more businesses prepare to open their doors on Monday staff shortages are being felt acutely across all sectors in all areas of business particularly across our struggling sectors in hospitality and leisure.

“The government should urgently bring forward its plans to July the 19th, currently set for August the 16th, to allow double-jabbed individuals not to self-isolate if they have been informed by the NHS Test and trace that they have come into contact with a Covid positive individual. Furthermore, those who have not been double jabbed should not have to self-isolate if they take daily lateral flow tests which record as negative for a prescribed number of days and report them to the NHS.”
