Scottish Cabinet to meet and hear from local people in Montrose this month.

The First Minister and her Cabinet will meet in Montrose on Tuesday 15 August, and then hold a public discussion at Montrose Town Hall.

The event will give members of the public the chance to quiz Cabinet members on the issues of the day affecting the town and local economy.

Since 2008, the Cabinet has held 44 meetings and public discussion events in towns across Scotland.

Since the beginning of this parliamentary term, the Cabinet met in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange in August 2016, where EU nationals resident in Scotland were invited to share their concerns following the EU Referendum, and in Pitlochry in February of this year.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

“Taking the Scottish Cabinet out on the road to meet local communities is a great way for us to find out more about local issues, and I’m looking forward to hearing directly from Montrose residents about what matters most to them.

“People may feel there’s a lot of uncertainty while negotiations get under way for the UK to leave the EU, but the Scottish Government is determined to protect and grow the Scottish economy by investing in our industries and infrastructure and continuing our efforts to improve public services and build the kind of country we all want to see.

“Meeting in Montrose will help us to take on board people’s thoughts and concerns and use their feedback to shape our policy decisions and continue to build a more inclusive and prosperous country.”

The public discussion will run from 13:00 to 14:30 at Montrose Town Hall, DD10 8HG. Entry is free but as seats are limited, attendees must register in advance on Eventbrite or call 0300 244 2138.
