Changes to our Retail Market Review reforms

14 Apr 2016 02:51 PM

Last month the Competition and Markets Authority proposed that Ofgem should remove some of the ‘simpler choices’ elements of our Retail Market Review (RMR) reforms, including the requirement on suppliers to offer no more than four core tariffs.

From now on, we do not intend to enforce these rules so that consumers can enjoy the benefits of a wider choice of tariffs and more competition as soon as possible.

We have written to suppliers and consumer groups to inform them of our decision. We expect suppliers to make their new tariffs easy for consumers to understand and compare in line with the CMA’s proposed recommendation.
