DfT seeks novel ideas for future aviation and border security.

The Department for Transport (DfT) and Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) have recently announced £4.5m of funding which will be available for developers to come up with new aviation and border security solutions to protect the UK aviation system and wider borders.

The competition, which has been launched under the Future Aviation Security Solutions (FASS) programme, goes hand in hand with the UK government’s commitment to keeping the skies safe with its counter-terrorism strategy, known as CONTEST. There are five main challenges that must be addressed and the programme will close for proposals on 1 July 2019. They are hoping the competition will contribute to a more efficient screening process for passengers and that the proposals will combine current and future security processes to contribute towards the global shift towards a more integrated, autonomous, transport system.
