Eleven men have been charged in connection with the seizure of 165 kilos of heroin at London Gateway Port in July 2014.
In October, the National Crime Agency appealed for help from the public to track down three of the men believed to be involved, prompting numerous calls from the public. Iftakhar Ahmed, 42 from Bromford, Birmingham, and Zulfgar Munsaf, 36, Winson Green, Birmingham were both arrested at their homes as a result of the press coverage – Ahmed in October last year and Munsaf in March. A third man was interviewed voluntarily and no further action was taken.
The heroin was concealed within metal lathes in a sea container which had arrived into London Gateway Port from Pakistan on 1 July 2014. The lathes were delivered to an industrial unit in Oldbury.
