FSCS reaches out to thousands of remaining Alpha latent defect policyholders

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is asking thousands of Alpha Insurance A/S (Alpha) latent defect policyholders to submit their premium refund claim to the Alpha claims portal on the Danish insurer’s website.

So far, FSCS has issued premium refund payments to around 14,000 Alpha latent defect policyholders. The Scheme is now asking that the remaining policyholders register their claim on the Alpha claims portal so they can be compensated. In total, FSCS has paid £31m in premium refund compensation on Alpha, across a range of products including Motor, GAP and Latent Defect insurance getting 229,000 policyholders back on track.

Jimmy Barber, Chief Operating Officer at FSCS, yesterday said:

“FSCS has refunded thousands of Alpha latent defect policyholders but there are thousands more across the UK that we have been unable to pay as we do not have their details. We ask that they go online and submit their claim on the Alpha portal so that we can pay them as soon as possible.”

The Alpha claims portal is at https://administration.topdanmark.dk/alpha-insurance/return-of-premium.

Any Alpha latent defect policyholders without access to the Internet should call FSCS Customer Enquiries on 0800 678 1100.
