Financial Secretary to the Treasury David Gauke said:

Canada is a key partner of the UK, and our tax administrations are very similar.

It was great to meet again today and have such a productive discussion.

It was a useful opportunity to talk about progress made so far in tackling key issues such as offshore tax avoidance and evasion, and how we will continue to work closely together in the future.

Canadian Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay said:

I am very pleased with today’s meeting.

Our two administrations share many similar goals: combatting international tax evasion and aggressive tax avoidance, ensuring a fair and competitive tax regime, and reducing red tape for businesses.

I am certain that, as we continue to build this relationship and work together, we will help address global non-compliance and contribute to the ongoing international dialogue regarding cooperation and collaboration in tax administration
