GMP officer arrested on suspicion of abusing his position

A police constable (PC) from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was recently (Friday 20 September) arrested following allegations that he abused his position for sexual purpose.
The officer, aged 38, was arrested by our investigatory team at a GMP training facility, and has been detained for questioning. A search of the officer’s home address has also been carried out.
The PC was arrested on suspicion of:
- Misconduct in public office
- Corrupt or other improper exercise of police powers and privileges contrary to section 26 of the criminal justice and courts act 2015.
The arrest follows a recent referral from GMP and is not linked to any other ongoing investigation.
