The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is appealing for witnesses after a woman fell from a motorway bridge in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

The IPCC has an independent investigation into the incident, as the woman had been in contact with Greater Manchester Police officers prior to her falling.

It’s understood the woman was spotted by members of the public on the wrong side of barrier on a bridge overlooking Junction 27 of the M60 (Lancashire Hill), shortly after 9am on Saturday 23 September.

GMP officers arrived at the scene soon after. The woman fell onto the edge of the motorway and sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

IPCC investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, and can be contacted via email lancashirehill@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk(link sends e-mail) or via phone 0800 151 0020.
