Introducing LGBT+ History month

What is LGBT+ History month?

LGBT+ history month is an annual month-long celebration that provides education on the history of the LGBT+ movement and related civil rights movements. It is an opportunity to support a very exciting, informative and celebratory month, to educate prejudice and make LGBT+ people, in all their rich diversity, visible.

LGBT+ History month 2021. Body, Mind, Spirit.

Vasileios Antonopoulos, co-chair of the Cabinet Office’s LGBT+ network says:

“This year’s theme is ‘Body, Mind, Spirit’, a reminder to look after our mental health during these difficult times that we are facing. During lockdown, people are not able to access the support of LGBTQ peers or allies and they may live with not supportive families or relatives, which has provoked a mental health crisis among the LGBTQ community.

For that reason it is important for all of us to come together (virtually!) to show our support for the LGBT+ community. The Civil Service LGBT+ Network will be running events throughout the month – we look forward to celebrating with you!”
