Isles of Scilly Special Protection Area extension: comment on proposals

Natural England is seeking views on the proposal to extend the Isles of Scilly Special Protection Area (SPA) to protect important birds.

Special Protection Areas (SPAs) are special sites designated under the EU Birds Directive to protect rare, vulnerable and migratory birds.
This site already protects internationally important populations of:
- storm petrel
- lesser black-backed gull
The proposal for the Isles of Scilly is to extend the SPA to protect internationally important breeding populations of:
- European shag
- great black-backed gull
