Join our Area Council and make a difference to the future of arts and culture

Have you got incredible passion for arts and culture? Got loads of experience of working across the arts and cultural sector? Then you could be just the person we’re looking for to join our Area Council in the South East.

Five of our current Area Council members have come to the end of their tenure and so we’re looking for five people to take on the baton - including one elected member from a Local Authority.

Our Area Council is an important part of our governance, working closely with the senior management team in the South East to support the sector to capitalise on opportunities and overcome challenges.

We’re looking for people who:

• have a strong knowledge of arts and culture, and commitment to promote the value of arts and culture in society
• have a commitment to Arts Council’s mission – Great art and culture for everyone
• have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Creative case for diversity
• are able to act as advocates for arts and culture on a local and national level
• are practising artists or have a specialist knowledge of:
  • one or more disciplines, such as libraries, museums, theatre or music
  • other fields relevant to arts and cultural sector such as the creative industries, education, regeneration, broadcasting, tourism, local or national government 
• have a knowledge and understanding of the South East area
• live or have work interests in the South East area.

Local authority applicants

If you are applying for the Local Authority role on Area Council, you must be an elected member within the South East area.
