LGA response to pavement parking concerns

LGA Transport spokesman, Cllr Judith Blake, responds to the Guide Dogs report on pavement parking

"Councils often hear from residents fed up with pavements either clogged up or compromised by excessive pavement parking. Repairing damaged kerbs and verges is expensive at a time when councils continue to face huge funding pressures.

"Councils would carefully consult with communities before introducing London-style pavement-banning of parking, in response to concerns which have been raised. This will enable local authorities to better protect vulnerable pedestrians and provide a more consistent approach for all road users," she said.
