LocalGov Digital Confirm Plans to Become a Co-Operative

7 Feb 2017 05:39 PM

In December last year LocalGov Digital launched a consultation to become a co-operative with the aim to give it a framework on who they are and what they want to achieve.

Yesterday they announced plans to create a co-operative and begin the discovery phase.

The scope and structure of the co-operative are yet to be formalised and LocalGov Digital have stated that they are looking for people to get involved with the discovery phase and beyond. Anyone with an interest in creating and delivering improved public services can get involved.

Commenting on the announcement, techUK’s Local Government Programme Manager Georgina Maratheftis said:

"techUK welcomed the announcement from LocalGov Digital to create a more formalised structure with a clearer proposition that will co-ordinate collaboration at the local level. LocalGov Digital has the potential to take on the much needed leadership role to drive forward digital transformation at the local level. We look forward to seeing how the plans progress and working closely with LocalGov Digital to champion transformation and create the environment that supports collaboration to deliver more effective and efficient public services.”
