National Crime Agency Director General Lynne Owens has issued the following statement on the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attacks:

“First and foremost our thoughts have to be with the family and friends of everyone killed or injured in last night’s horrific attack.”

“But I’d also like to pay tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the emergency services who attended the incident, in particular those law enforcement colleagues who risked their lives to protect the public and confronted the attackers.”

“The investigation is being led by the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command, and the NCA stands ready to assist in any way necessary.”

“Anyone who has images or film of the incident to pass to the police should upload it to www.ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk.”

“During this time we would encourage you to remain calm but alert; if you see any suspicious activity or something out of place please call 999. Visit www.gov.uk/act for more information on how cooperation between public and police can help prevent a terrorist act.”
