This article, first published in Data Economy Magazine’s November 2019 edition (pages 52-53) explores the problems customers face in attributing carbon to digital activities they outsource to third parties. We explain why this gets so complicated in cloud environments and suggest some rules of thumb for customers wishing to assess whether their outsourcing decisions are sustainable or not.
