NHS Confederation: Parties must commit to Brexit pledges

9 May 2017 09:57 AM

Political parties must commit to a series of pledges on Brexit ahead of the 8 June election, says the NHS Confederation.

Launching document Brexit and the NHS: Election 2017 yesterday, the NHS Confederation is asking for a series of nine commitments.

These include a detailed analysis of the benefits and costs resulting from exiting the EU to ensure that the NHS is protected at a time of unexpected service changes.

Another is for continued access to collaborative EU-wide research programmes and clinical trials, developing and testing better treatments for patients and to guarantee research funding beyond Brexit.

The full set of proposals is attached.
