Darren Hughes, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation responded to Asthma UK & British Lung Foundation Wales’ “Long Covid” survey results

“Over the last year, we’ve learnt more and more about the long-term health implications that Coronavirus can have on some people. As time has gone on, it’s clear that the symptoms are more wide-ranging than first thought, with individuals experiencing vastly different symptoms and experiences to one another.

“The NHS is always learning from patients’ experiences and has rapidly adapted to the challenges that the Coronavirus pandemic has thrown at it over the last year. Across the Welsh NHS there’s a huge amount of work being done to understand more about the implications of Coronavirus and the longer term issues people face.

“This is still a new virus that we continue to learn more about each day. All Health Boards across Wales are working with patients to make sure they receive the appropriate level of care for their individual needs.

“Anyone with ongoing symptoms should access the NHS Wales Covid-19 Recovery App in the first instance, which has been developed in partnership with patients and received very positive feedback.”
