Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents health service organisations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, responded to the Quality Matters report which was published by the Care Quality Commission

“This is an important milestone in changing the way services are run - we need to move to  a world in which both health and care organisations listen to and act on the voice of those who services, as well as their families and carers.

“We particularly welcome the way in which this work on adult social care has been developed and delivered, and the emphasis it places on the principles of co-production These will also play an increasingly significant role in reformed healthcare services.

“We are committed to working with colleagues in social care and local government to find solutions which deliver the best possible care for everyone  who relies on these vital services. That will require new ways of working."
