National Lottery Project Grants – What’s new?
17 Jul 2020 03:33 PM
National Lottery Project Grants is back! This is our fund open to all individual artists, community and cultural organisations to support arts, museums and libraries projects. And it’s all made possible thanks to funding from National Lottery players.
The portal is reopening for applications from 22 July, with a budget of £59.8 million available until April 2021.
We’ve made some improvements so the fund can be more responsive to the needs of smaller independent organisations and individual practitioners during Covid-19.
Take a look at what has changed and how this fund can help you at this time.
We’re particularly keen to support individual practitioners
We’ve had to close other programmes such as Developing your Creative Practice during Covid-19, so we’re making sure individual applicants are well supported through National Lottery Project Grants.
To do this, we are aiming for the success rate for individuals to be at least the same as it is for organisations (historically, it can be lower).
We’ll also focus more on funding activity that gives you the time to think, plan and test new ideas: which we think will be of particular importance to applicants at the moment (as individuals or organisations). For the first time with this fund, we’ll be able to invest in activity where the route to public engagement may take longer, and may take place beyond the boundaries of the activity you apply to us for.
For now, you no longer need 10% match funding
We know that finding match funding in these circumstances would be particularly challenging. So, if you don’t have the full 10% we usually expect, or any match funding at all, you’ll still be able to apply.
If you do have match funding or any support in kind, we still want to hear about this in your application budget.
Good news for libraries
Public Libraries will now be able to apply for activity that aligns with any of the four Universal Library Offers;
- Creativity and Culture
- Information and Digital
- Health and Wellbeing
If you want to find out more about these have a look at the updated Libraries information sheet.
More museums projects
Museums can now apply to National Lottery Project Grants for Subject Specialist Network activity. We’ll also accept applications from a wider range of applicants for any activity that benefits at least one Accredited museum, its collections and its visitors.
To find out more, take a look at the updated Museums information sheet.
