Pan-European

Created by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), the Roadmap serves as an inventory of European research facilities. It identifies projects of pan-European interest corresponding to the long-term needs of the European research communities and covering all scientific areas.

The 2016 Roadmap provides the Council of the European Union with a comprehensive,  strategic picture of ongoing research. This allows the EU to offer high-quality research facilities that are accessible to all top researchers, enabling the scientific world to realise its full potential.

The 2016 ESFRI Roadmap comprises 21 projects with a high degree of maturity, including six new ones. The projects will be announced at the launch.

The implementation and sustainability of the research facilities will be also discussed at the conference, a live stream of which will be available online. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) is organising the conference together with ESFRI, the European Commission and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
