NICE is collaborating with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to develop an executive master’s degree in health care decision-making.

An exceptional partnership

NICE’s involvement in this programme provides a rare opportunity to understand the topic from an insider’s perspective. Our expert speakers have a wide range of skills and knowledge, from systematic literature reviewing and data analytics, to academic research and clinical experience. They will provide part of the core teaching to provide a pragmatic understanding of the challenges faced during the decision-making process.

Professor Gillian Leng, chief executive of NICE, said: “NICE is a global leader in the development of evidence-based guidance. We are respected for the scientific rigour of our approach. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to draw on our many years of expertise, working in partnership with the academic experts at LSE, to develop this truly unique programme.”

Jeanette Kusel, NICE scientific advice director, said: “NICE will bring its hands-on experience of multi-factorial decision-making to this programme. When it comes to the evaluation of healthcare interventions and outcomes, there are no simple answers. Every decision has complexities. This could be around relative effectiveness, uncertainty in the position of the new technology in the pathway or challenges with the economic modelling. NICE will bring this practical element to the table.”
