Mrs Tricia Carter as Vice President of the National Library of Wales. She is a
successful businesswoman, with a wealth of experience in university management,
and has a deep commitment to the Library and its work.
"I look forward to working
closely with Mrs Carter, and other members of the Board, to support the Chief
Executive and Librarian and the staff in moving the Library
forward.
"I am extremely pleased
that Mr Huw Williams will continue to serve on the Library’s Board of
Trustees for a further four years. He has made an invaluable contribution
across the whole range of the Library’s
activities."
Mrs Carter’s appointment
follows Professor Aled Jones’ term as Vice President, which came to an
end on 26 February 2013.
Huw Williams is Vice Chairman of
the law firm Geldards LLP and senior partner in the firm’s Cardiff

Professor Sir Deian Hopkin,
President of the Library said:
"The Board of the Library
is delighted at the appointment of Mrs Tricia Carter as
Vice-President. She has already made an invaluable contribution to
the work of the Board, bringing extensive experience of both the public and
private sectors to its deliberations.
"She is also the first
woman to be appointed to this position in the Library’s history and I
look forward very much to our working together to support the Library and Chief
Executive, and the staff of the Library, in delivering our future strategic
plans.
"The reappointment of Huw
Williams to the Board for a further term is welcome news. His legal
expertise and experience of corporate governance in the public sector,
including his contributions to the Board of the National Museum of Wales, have
provided the Library with consistently valuable advice and support and I look
forward to continuing our productive association with
him."
Aled Gruffydd Jones, Chief
Executive of the Library, said:
"We’re delighted to
learn that Tricia Carter has been appointed as Vice President. Since her
appointment as a Trustee some years ago, her contribution to the work of the
Board and the Library has been significant. She has broad experience and
competencies in the areas of income generation, marketing and governance and
the Library will benefit greatly as a result of this excellent
appointment.
"We are also extremely
pleased to hear that Huw Williams, who is a person with broad interests and is
an accomplished lawyer, has received an invitation from the Minister to
continue as a Trustee for a further four year period."
