Non-police organisations' use of the Police National Computer

11 May 2016 02:45 PM

HMIC has yesterday published reports on the use of the Police National Computer (PNC) by ten non-police organisations.

The PNC is a national database of information available to all police forces throughout the United Kingdom, which allows them to carry out checks — for example, on a person’s criminal record or vehicle registration.

The reports published today set out the findings of a pilot inspection into the Royal Mail’s use of the PNC, and of inspections of nine other non-police organisations that use the PNC.
