ONS recognised as an Investor in People again

“Investors in People” has once again awarded the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics, the UK Statistics Authority incorporating Office for National Statistics (ONS), its silver accreditation.

Maintaining the internationally-recognised standard continues to demonstrate ONS’s commitment to excellence through quality people management.

Used internationally for people-management benchmarking, Investors in People defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results.

Paul Littler, Head of Learning and Development at ONS said: “Businesses from over 80 countries apply and we are very proud to once again be formally recognised.

“How ONS leads, supports and improves was carefully reviewed by Investors in People. As a multi-site employer, almost universally we were shown to have adopted certain values, including: an exemplary approach to learning, improved staff engagement and morale – with flexible working and a “family friendly” culture identified.”

• Since 1991, the standard has evolved to keep pace with modern practices. The current sixth generation was launched internationally in 2015.
• Previous assessments relied solely on sample interviews across the workforce. This time the whole workforce at ONS was invited to respond to an online questionnaire, followed up by a face-to-face and telephone interview sample.
