Ofgem investigates United Gas and Power Ltd’s billing and communications activities

Ofgem is launching an investigation into whether United Gas and Power breached rules around billing, meter reading and communications.

United Gas and Power is a non-domestic supplier.

United Gas and Power was acting on behalf of Hudson Energy Supply UK Ltd in respect of some customers during the period covered by the investigation, therefore the investigation will also relate to this company.

The opening of this investigation does not imply that we have made any findings about non-compliance by United Gas and Power or Hudson Energy Supply UK.

Notes

  1. ​​Standard Licence Condition (“SLC”) 0A sets out specific obligations concerning the requirement to treat Micro Business Consumers fairly. SLC 7A.8 sets out specific obligations concerning the notification of Micro Business Consumer Contract terms and other information. SLC 21B.1 sets out specific obligations concerning the requirement to bill based on meter readings.
  2. Hudson Energy Supply UK is responsible for the actions of United Gas and Power in relation to customers supplied under its electricity and gas supply licences.
