Open now: Host a GCS Apprentice

12 Dec 2018 02:27 PM

The GCS Apprenticeship is a key part of the GCS Diversity and Inclusion Strategy to recruit, train and develop talented communicators, and establish a strong, diverse pipeline for future leaders of government communications. Departments, agencies and ALBs are invited to submit a request to host a GCS apprentice. Make sure you send in your requests by 14 December.

GCS Apprentices outside No. 10

The GCS Apprenticeship combines work with training to complete the Level 4 PR & Communications standard. The GCS apprenticeship aims to bring in school leavers to the GCS at AO grade for 18 months, beginning in October 2019.

GCS Apprentices have been engaged in a variety of exciting roles including internal and external communications, supporting campaigns, digital content creation and working in press offices on hard hitting issues that form our current affairs.

‘In my experience Apprentices expect stretching and demanding work, they want to deliver.’ – Paul Franklin, line manager to an Apprentice

13 out of 16 Cohort 1 apprentices have been offered permanent roles in the GCS.

Benefits:

GCS welcomes requests to host an Apprentice from all departments, agencies and ALB’s. Requests should be coordinated between Development Advisers and HR teams for each organisation.
