Possible post-Brexit barrier to road injury compensation

UK residents injured in traffic accidents in Europe may find difficulties seeking compensation from overseas insurers, post-Brexit, says the European Scrutiny Committee in its publication of EU papers this week.

Injury compensation system post-Brexit

The Committee discussed the implications of Brexit for UK residents who are injured in a traffic accident elsewhere in Europe, as the current system — which allows them to pursue compensation in the UK from an overseas insurer — will fall away when the UK leaves the Single Market.
