Public Health Wales services ready for Brexit

Public Health Wales is reassuring the public that we have robust arrangements in place ahead of the United Kingdom’s planned departure from the European Union on 31 December 2020.

The organisation has been preparing for the UK’s departure from the EU, and we are urging anyone engaging with our services to do so as normal.

Members of the public who are invited to one of our screening programmes should attend their appointment or complete the test kit as usual. Anyone eligible for any type of vaccination under our Vaccines and Preventable Diseases Programmes – and particularly the Beat Flu campaign this winter – should seek a vaccination as normal.

Executive Director of Public Health Services and Senior Responsible Owner for Brexit Preparedness, Dr Quentin Sandifer, said:

“We have been preparing for Brexit for some time, and we are reassuring the public that robust arrangements are in place ahead our departure from the European Union on 31 January 2020.

“If you are invited to participate in one of our screening programmes, please attend your appointment or complete your test kit as normal. The programmes will be delivered as usual.

“Our supplies of vaccines, including the flu, MMR, and Meningitis vaccines, are also more than sufficient. If you are eligible for vaccination, please take action to get vaccinated as you would normally.

“Public Health Wales is working in close collaboration with the Welsh Government and Public Health England to maintain our Brexit preparedness.”
