Single-use plastics: member states confirm agreement which bans certain throwaway plastic items

EU member states recently confirmed tough new restrictions on certain single-use plastic products. EU ambassadors meeting in COREPER endorsed the provisional agreement reached after more than 12 hours of negotiations between the presidency of the Council and the European Parliament in the early hours of 19 December.
