A South Yorkshire Police officer will appear in court charged with unlawful and malicious wounding after an incident following a Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday football match in February.
A 16-year-old boy was injured in the incident in Midland Street, Barnsley.
Police Constable William Sampson, aged 26, will appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 2 December.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) completed its investigation in August and referred a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which made the decision to charge PC Sampson.
