- EU parliament set to adopt commitment to level playing field for workers’ rights in Brexit deal
- Agreeing proposal would help deliver Theresa May’s promise to ‘protect and enhance’ workers’ rights
Commenting on the resolution expected to be adopted by the European Parliament today (Wednesday) on the post-Brexit deal with the UK, which includes a proposal to require a level playing field on workers’ rights, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“Theresa May promised to ‘protect and enhance’ workers’ rights. But she’s done nothing yet to make sure the Brexit deal delivers her promise.
“The level playing field proposal would give working Brits the long-term protection they need for their rights at work. By making an early commitment to write that into any future deal, the UK government would get the next round of negotiations off to a very positive start.”
