Technical, Social Media and Virtual Volunteers scheme to be relaunched!

Lockdown was a challenging time for us all, we all pulled together and supported each other, including our funding partners who wanted to work with us to support the network. We developed a ‘Virtual Volunteering’ offer where individual subject experts from BT and Mastercard were matched with centres to help with their specific technical and business needs. This helped many individuals in a variety of areas such as choosing the right digital communications tools to contact their clients or support business and project planning.
By the end of June, 29 centres had been matched with volunteers and even though not all centres were in a position to connect with their volunteers, as supporting their clients emergency needs became top priority, they were able to receive help later in the year.
We’ve had some brilliant feedback from many of you who have received a wide range of technical support including bid writing, project management tools, training sessions on Microsoft Teams, choosing the best platforms to deliver remotely and more!
We’ve learned how beneficial the scheme is to both our centres and volunteers, so we are pleased to share the news that BT will be offering a new streamlined virtual volunteer offer to the network, starting in October. The opportunity will be available until at least April 2021 and will be open to all members of the network.
BT, Plusnet and EE staff will be able to offer virtual support from anywhere in the country to support centres to develop or improve social media skills, virtual communications skills or business and project management skills.
