Young adults with learning disabilities are getting a helping hand on to the career ladder, thanks to a scheme supported by TfL.

Steps into Work is a one-year programme designed for people aged 16 and above to build the skills and knowledge needed for mainstream employment. It is a three-way partnership between TfL, the disability employment agency Remploy, and Barnet and Southgate College.

Opportunities on the scheme range from working as a customer services adviser at Tube stations to placements at the London Transport Museum and in IT.

Mauricio Casas Garzon, who worked as an admin clerk, said: 'I have found the experience of being on Steps into Work very enjoyable and I have enjoyed working and meeting new people. I believe the programme has helped me gain more confidence and work skills. After finishing the programme, I would like to apply for a full-time paid job as a customer service assistant with London Underground.'

To apply for the January 2016 intake email stepsintowork@tfl.gov.uk or call 0203 054 2718. The deadline is 9 October 2015.
