The Skills Funding Agency has recently published an on-line version of the funding rules for the 2014 to 2015 funding year, with the aim of improving accessibility and usability.

The funding rules are mandatory requirements that apply to all publicly funded colleges, training organisations, local authorities and employers (providers) who receive funding from the Agency to provide further education and skills training.

Given their importance to the FE sector, it is no surprise that the funding rules documents are among the most viewed Agency content on GOV.UK. In recognition of this fact we have been working to make the rules more accessible for our website users and have now published the 2014 to 2015 funding rules on-line.

The funding rules have been divided into three sections that contain the same text and follow the format of the original PDF document. These sections include the rules related to general funding, the adult skills budget and the other programmes we fund. Each section is divided into separate parts that detail the rules for a specific area of funding.

The new on-line version of the rules can be interrogated by the internal GOV.UK and external search engines, helping users to find funding information more easily. Each part has links allowing users to jump to points within the text and is connected to all of the other parts, enabling users to easily navigate across the whole of the funding rules content.

Commenting on the funding rules on-line Una Bennett, Deputy Director of Funding Systems, said: “Feedback from users has helped us to develop the funding rules in such a way that you can find information quickly through an online search and you can print out the rules if needed.”
