The world leading organisation backing NCFE’s new business improvement

19 Jul 2019 03:34 PM

NCFE’s recently launched business improvement qualification was developed in partnership with one of the world’s leading insurance companies. Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Europe (AND-E), the European operation of MS&AD Holdings, worked closely with NCFE in the development of the qualification, combining the expertise of two sector leading organisations.

Strong reputation in the industry

AND-E provides motor insurance to Toyota and Lexus customers across Europe and is also the fully-owned parent company of the North East based largest telematics black-box insurance provider in the UK, Insure the Box (ITB). The reputation and credibility of AND-E within the industry means that they are in a great position to provide valuable contributions to the development of the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Business Improvement Techniques.

This qualification aims to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of business improvement techniques, which can be applied across many different sectors, in areas including safe and effective team working, continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen) and their application in the workplace, visual management systems, problem solving and flow process analysis.

The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Business Improvement Techniques is approved for Local Flexibility funding and is suitable for learners in employment and those currently searching for employment opportunities. The qualification will be delivered by independent training providers and FE colleges.

Helping people in the organisation grow

Stephen Johnson-Ramsey, Group Talent and Leadership Development Partner at AND-E, commented on the collaborative development: “AND-E work hard to develop people within the organisation, and one of my key responsibilities is to seek out opportunities for partnerships and qualifications that would benefit our employees.

Deciding to work with NCFE on the development of this qualification was a no-brainer, as our company has a keen interest in further education and development. Our business is about continuous improvement, and it is essential that we are encouraging and helping to develop the standards which we will use.

“We believe a partnership with one of the UK’s leading awarding organisations is important for helping us to develop our own learning and development to a high standard.

“This qualification offers key starting points for the fundamentals of business improvement and change management, helping learners to think differently on how change will impact themselves and the business as a whole. Project managers, change specialists and line managers would benefit from this qualification, as well as other learners who wish to learn about lean business improvement techniques, who have responsibility for improving business performance or who are looking for a career change and to learn new skills.”

Collaborating with key stakeholders

Stephen continued:

“I have enjoyed working with NCFE, and I can see first-hand that they take the experience and views of employers very seriously when they are constructing their qualifications. Our organisation was given the ability to add useful thoughts and ideas, along with receiving honest feedback.”

Hayley Dann, Qualifications Developer at NCFE said:

“Working with stakeholders is key to qualification development. They bring valuable contributions which ensures that our qualifications are fit for purpose and reflect current practice within the workplace.”
