UK political parties’ financial accounts published

The financial accounts of political parties and accounting units with income or expenditure over £250,000 in the calendar year 2025 have been published by the Electoral Commission (Opens in new window). 

The Commission published the accounts of those with income and expenditure under £250,000 in July and has today published the accounts of 30 political parties and accounting units over that threshold. 

The accounts are for the year ending 31 December 2025, and are published to provide transparency into the political finance system. 

Jackie Killeen, Director of Electoral Administration and Regulation at the Electoral Commission, said:

“We are committed to maintaining transparency in political funding. Political parties spend and receive considerable sums of money so it’s important that information about their finances is accessible to the public. Publishing their accounts gives voters a clear view of how parties are funded and choose to spend their money.”

Party income or expenditure over £250,000

Sixteen parties in the UK reported having an income or expenditure of more than £250,000, with a combined £134,059,991 of income and £120,776,944 of expenditure. 

This compares with nineteen parties that reported income or expenditure of over £250,000 for 2024 (Opens in new window), reporting totals of £183,240,894 of income and £186,107,379 of expenditure. 

The Scottish Green Party and Your Party applied for an extension to allow time to deliver their accounts. Their new deadlines to submit are 7 and 30 October respectively. Britain First did not submit their accounts by the deadline. Failures to meet submission deadlines will be considered in line with our Enforcement Policy.
