Gareth Redmond-King, Head of Energy and Climate at WWF responded to the Energy UK report published yesterday on energy efficiency in homes

“We’ve achieved a huge amount in the UK - slashing our carbon emissions by more than a third since 1990. However, this isn't enough and we can't rest on our laurels.  In order to meet our international commitments, we urgently need to address emissions from our buildings.

Cutting emissions from homes and commercial properties is not only necessary to tackle climate change, but also drives down costs and boosts employment in the low carbon sector.   What we need now is the long-overdue plan from the UK Government for how we continue to reduce emissions into the next decade.  This ‘clean growth plan’ needs to be ambitious if we are to meet our crucial climate obligations and avoid passing costs to future generations.”
