Working with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

27 Nov 2017 11:12 AM

Yesterday we published a joint working protocol with the NMC.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have jointly developed this protocol in order to work more effectively together and reduce duplication. Both organisations have a mutual responsibility for the safety of patients and people who use health and care services. In several areas of work, information gathered by one organisation can help the other.

We have already set out our intention to work together and share information in a memorandum of understanding. The protocol updates one published in July 2014 and provides an operational model for staff in both organisations. It is designed to work alongside existing processes so we work together and share information.
