techUK Justice & Emergency Services Management Committee Announced

techUK members have elected the body to steer our work in Policing, Home Affairs, and Justice.

Following recent elections, the new members of the techUK Justice & Emergency Services Committee have been announced.

The Committee is elected by the members, to represent the supplier community to policing, the Home Office, and the wider justice system.

The primary role of the Committee is to represent the tech sector at a high level to Government, and set the strategic direction of techUK's Justice & Emergency Services programme, contributing to forward planning and ensuring the programme accurately reflects members’ priorities. The Committee aims to lead debate on new technologies, optimise use of existing capabilities and provide a forum for law enforcement to engage with industry. This includes close working with the public sector to help them act as an intelligent client when procuring technology.

Allan Fairley, the newly elected Chair of the Committee, said

"I am honoured that members have elected me to be chair of techUK’s Justice and Emergency Services Council at what is a crucial time for the sector. We are at a critical inflexion point with extreme financial pressures likely to continue for the long term, making finding alternative delivery models an absolute necessity.

Digital technology will be a key enabler of this, providing solutions which will help us deliver more for less whilst also providing services that citizens are increasingly demanding as the sector tackles the changing nature of crime. My goal will be to bring together industry, police forces and relevant stakeholders to help solve the problem collectively and deliver the transformation we need. We all want the same thing – to keep the country safe, so collaboration is key to making this happen."
