Curating offers from the tech industry to support local governments response to COVID-19

Since launching the local government tech repository at the end of March, it has been amazing to see the response of industry and its growing range of support offers. Local government is working tirelessly to respond to COVID-19, to mitigate its impact on our communities and to shield the most vulnerable in our communities.

The tech industry wants to support local government during this critical time and, given the pressures local government is facing, we have created together this repository to signpost offers by the types of challenges they are facing, making it easier for councils to navigate the offers of support. Challenges range from remote working/security to supporting the vulnerable through coordinating volunteers.

The repository containing all the offers of support addressing these challenges can be found here. (file download)

techUK’s Head of Public Services, Georgina Maratheftis said:

“It’s been great to work alongside Socitm on compiling this repository and to do something that we hope is of value to its members and for all councils and their partners delivering local services. Councils have responded swiftly and are collaborating with each other and industry to support our communities. We hope this repository will help them as they seek to address the many pressing problems facing people, communities and businesses in their areas.”

Socitm’s Director of Policy & Research, Martin Ferguson said:

“Collaboration between local government and the supplier community has never been more important than in the current pandemic. The tech community has risen to the challenge of COVID-19 with the offers curated in this repository. Working closely in partnership with techUK, the repository is one of a number of services that Socitm has made available in its dedicated Coronavirus resource. We have been delighted to learn that several councils have already followed up offers in the repository with specific suppliers and that the partnership with techUK in assisting local authorities and public services is having a positive impact”
