techUK’s Cloud Webinar - “How do we overcome the Cloud skills gap"
22 Apr 2020 03:54 PM
An opportunity to hear Cloud industry leaders share their insights on how the cloud skills challenge can be effectively tackled.
A sound skills base is essential in ensuring long term growth of the cloud economy. Given the importance of cloud deployment, adoption and use to the UK’s digital future, it is vital to identify how and where the UK’s digital skills gap could impact the UK cloud computing potential and find ways of addressing any cloud skills gap that exists.
Organisations that are aiming for greater agility and improved competitive positioning are looking towards enacting cloud adoption as part of their digital transformation strategy. While cloud computing has accelerated digital transformation, it’s also created more niche and specialist jobs and functions. This has resulted in a widening gap where certain cloud roles are not being filled simply because not enough people have the skills for it. High market demand and competition to find the right skills and resources is increasingly becoming a challenge faced by both the cloud industry and users.
To shed some light on how the skills challenge can be met, on the 30th April at 2pm techUK is holding its first monthly Cloud Computing Webinar to hear members views on the following questions:
- Is there a Cloud skills gap in your organisation? What impact is it having?
- How have you looked to overcoming this skills gap?
- Is the shortage of a skilled cloud workforce holding back adoption in key sectors and markets? If so which sectors and markets are in most need of skilled cloud professionals?
- How are Cloud applications in the market helping organisations to overcome the skills challenges? Can the Cloud play a role in upskilling and retraining the existing workforce?
- What can we do together? Do we need to develop a set of recommendations, a short and long-term strategy, to tackle this as an industry? If so, what should those recommendations include?
This webinar is an opportunity to hear Cloud industry leaders share their insights on the importance of this issue for the future of the UK Cloud market and provide recommendations for a forward-looking strategy on how this can be effectively tackled. This webinar will also be exploring the possible role both government and industry could play in reducing the cloud skills gap to ensure that the UK technology sector continues to have access to a pool of skilled cloud professionals to help organisations migrate to and manage cloud environments.
We have the following panel of experts confirmed:
Iain Beckingham – UK CTO, Intel Corporation
David Frith – Associate Director Cloud Security, NCC Group
Andy Campbell – Global Solution Evangelist, FinancialForce
