Sunderland City Council has awarded Esh Construction a £35M contract to improve the city’s road networks. The third phase of the Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor will take two years to complete, and will involve the creation of a dual carriageway.
The appointment was made using NEPO211 Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Framework, which provides contracting authorities in the North East with a quick cost effective route to market to award civil engineering and infrastructure contracts. Authorities may either conduct a mini competition against all contractors on a particular lot or, in the case of emergencies, make a direct award on a ranked contractor basis. The framework comprises 15 lots covering different types of works and values.
