Additional fee support scheme for FE trainee teachers
Awards will be paid directly to the teacher-training provider in part-payment of the individual’s course fees. Organisations are urged to apply on behalf of trainees as soon as possible, as awards are allocated on a first come-first served basis, with a closing date of midnight Thursday 14th February 2013.
To be eligible, trainees must be studying a recognised, stand-alone subject-specific qualification in adult literacy/functional English and/or numeracy/functional maths (level 5 equivalent) in England. The qualifications must be higher education institute or awarding organisation validated. Awarding organisation qualifications which already receive funding subsidy through the Skills Funding Agency are not eligible.
In addition, the third round of the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Fee Awards has also been launched. Organisations that have registered for the scheme may now submit final claims, and further information for organisations that wish to register is available via the link below. The deadline for applications is midnight Friday 1 February 2013.
Details of eligibility and guidance on how to apply for the Basic English and maths Teacher Training Awards and/or the ITT Fee Awards are available via the Excellence Gateway.
Rob Wye, chief executive of LSIS said: “LSIS is delighted to be supporting the training of the FE teachers of the future - skilled and qualified teachers are the lifeblood of the FE sector.
