Government needs to set out its stall on alcohol
Read our response to the Health Select Committee's report on the Government's alcohol strategy.
Speaking when the Health Select Committee published its report on the Government's alcohol strategy on 19 July, NHS Confederation deputy director of policy Jo Webber, said: “It’s good that the committee sees alcohol abuse as an issue needing a broad, societal approach but now what’s really needed is for the Government to set out its stall clearly.
Government needs to be explicit
"It needs to be explicit about what it’s going to do, by when, and how, in order to tackle our current problems with alcohol usage, as the NHS can’t keep picking up the pieces. Otherwise it will be unsustainable.”
