Meeting the buyers of international science facilities

Supplying large scientific facilities can provide industry with a wide range of benefits, from generating international exposure to opening up new markets, not to mention a valuable source of income.

To promote opportunities for UK electrical engineering firms at large international facilities, STFC and UKTI (link opens in a new window) recently hosted a "Meet the Buyer" meeting in London.

22 UK companies attended the event to find out how they could get involved with current and future projects at CERN (link opens in a new window) (Switzerland), STFC's ISIS neutron source (link opens in a new window)(UK), the Institut Laue-Langevin (link opens in a new window) (France) and the Square Kilometre Array (link opens in a new window)(site to be decided).

Informative presentations were followed by an afternoon of one-to-one meetings between potential suppliers and procurement and technical specialists from each of the facilities.

STFC's Julie Bellingham, organiser of the event said: "The specialists from all of the facilities left the event pleased that they had met a whole host of new potential suppliers, whilst the delegates felt that they had developed those all-important new links with the facilities and many have already received enquiries about their products as a result of the day."

STFC helps to introduce UK industry to large facilities through its tender opportunities service. Interested UK manufacturers can register now!.
