Rankin to Grayson Perry: ten world-class artists to take on Museums at Night projects in 2014, as decided by you
Culture24 has announced the names of ten contemporary artists chosen for Connect10 2014: the national competition that gives the UK’s museums and galleries the chance to work with a leading artist on an event at their venue over the Museums at Night weekend in May 2014.
Cultural venues now have a month to bid for their chosen artist by sharing a fresh and exciting new event idea – for the artist, organisation and audience. The best ideas to work with each artist will then be shortlisted, and a public vote in January 2014 will decide what the winning projects are for each artist.
Funded by the Arts Council, Connect10 supports venues to develop new ideas to attract audiences over the Museums at Night weekend. This year over 30,000 memebers of the public voted on projects for ten contemporary artists in May 2013.

Nick Stockman, Culture24 Campaigns Manager said, 'It gives me great pleasure to announce such an impressive list of innovative and exciting artists to take part in the Connect10 competition in 2014. We are hugely excited by the calibre of artists taking part this year. It is bound to cause great excitement in venues up and down the country who could ultimately win an amazing artist to deliver a memorable Museums at Night event.'
Connect10 is a project funded by the Arts Council to support venues in experimenting with new ideas to attract audiences over the Museums at Night weekend. In 2013, over 30,000 members of the public voted to win an artist for their town or city. Previous events have included Jake and Dinos Chapman playing Exquisite Corpses at the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings, Gavin Turk creating an Egyptian themed art experience at Bristol Museum, Polly Morgan performing live taxidermy in Liverpool and Bompas & Parr floating Bristol’s ss Great Britain on a sea of lime green jelly.
