House of Commons Reform Committee

The Select Committee on Reform of the House of Commons, set up to consider and make recommendations to the House by 13 November on several specified matters, has agreed its First Report. Following the period from 12 to 17 November during which the House is prorogued, the Committee have published the report at 00.01am on Tuesday 24th November.

The Select Committee on Reform of the House of Commons was appointed on 20 July 2009 to consider and report on four specified matters:  the appointment of members and chairmen of select committees; the appointment of the Chairman and Deputy Chairmen of Ways and Means; scheduling business in the House; enabling the public to initiate debates and proceedings in the House.
