Third annual report of National Oversight Group published

The third annual report of the National Oversight Group (NOG) for high secure psychiatric services is available.  The NOG for high secure services brings together partners to provide oversight on service provision on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health.

The National Oversight Group Annual Report 2010-11 summarises key discussions of the group over the year, which cover:

  • terms of reference, membership and sub-group structure
  • whole system management
  • performance management
  • commissioning/capacity
  • policy developments
  • equality impact assessments
  • working relationships.

The NOG advises Ministers on how the high secure system should adapt and respond in light of changes within the criminal justice system and the NHS. It provides assurance to Ministers on the operation of the high secure system, and advises on the transition plans which need to be in place to enable a smooth migration to new systems and organisations. It’s role will be kept under review as new systems in the NHS and criminal justice continue to develop.
